The city of Elya. The only place other than the city hall where you can find all the species mingling together without a large amount of casualties. No, instead you'll find smaller brawls that either attract crowds or go by unnoticed. The sky was mottled with clouds and a small breeze blew through the streets. This would be a normal afternoon for Lin. The time was around 12:30 and Lin was a bit hungry. She had just come from a meeting with the empress along with other advisors and she felt like eating at a casual place.
The discussion topic for this meeting: the bloodlust that was hovering right outside their doors. The war was taking a turn that could possibly affect the shifter pride. Lin knew Empress Isolade did not want to get the pride involved with the war. Lin agreed completely after all they had no reason to fight. By staying neutral they put the third dog effect in as well. As the two dogs fight over the bone, the third will run away with it. The pride may be at a better advantage as long as they stayed in their position.
Enough about the meeting though, there would be way too many opinions and debating to list down. A soft growl could be heard and Lin looked around. There had to be something that she could eat that was simple and close by. A light lunch would suffice, like soup or a sandwich. Shouldering her bag, Lin continued on her way. She'd find something soon, hopefully.
After passing several shops, she found a bakery. Not my first pick, but I'm game for it. Lin entered the shop which smelled of fresh bread and sweet pastries. Lucky for her, the bakery did sandwiches so Lin ordered a cold ham sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes. Once she paid for it she began to nibble on it as she window-shopped. Lin wasn't much of a shopper, but she liked to look around.
Once she was done eating her sandwich she deposited the wrapper in a trash bin. Sudden footsteps began to approach her. Lin turned to see who it was and her bag was suddenly was ripped off her shoulder. "Hey! Stop!" She yelled running after the thief. She was about to shift when the thief ran down a narrow alleyway. Brilliant. Lin needed her bag, it held her money and some other items of importance.
The thief ran down various places with Lin in pursuit. There was no way she'd actually catch him unless he stopped or if she had enough room to shift. Even then it was risky since there were many objects she could trip on in her other form. Although she didn't yell anything else, Lin felt that the thief knew she was still in pursuit. If only someone could help her right now, there was not way she could keep running at this rate. Why did I of all people have to get robbed? For all she knew, the thief could be a vampire or dragon or something like that.

Starting out, outside of the city and just out of no where, most people wouldn’t even think to look for someone out there. Eli had always been on his own, ever since he left his mother and fathers side, he was just out on his own, doing what he could to make it by with what he had. It wasn’t much, but he was happy, and he knew if he really needed something, he would just go to his home land, and he would be able to stay with his parents or get something from people who knew of him, or what he was doing. He had no love for this war, and everyone knew that and they never said much against him, when he would voice his opinion. His parents were good people, they worked in the library, keeping records of the world and everything that had been going on around there safe, and ready to read for anyone that wanted to know what it was that had made there world that way. Eli liked books, when he was young he used to spend all his time sitting in the library, reading all that he could about anything that made him happy.
That was the past though, he had to stop thinking about the past, and the things that were going to bring him down. Today he had been out in his hut in the forest, thinking about what he was going to do that day, and where he was going to be going. That was when he thought to go into the city and get some things that he needed for his home. Taking a towel and some clothes he had gone down to the river and washed himself up, the water was nice and cold and it made sure that he was all the way awake, and he was rather starved now as well. Drying off he shoved the clothes into a small bag around his neck, then hanging the towel up he changed into his paguses form and took off into the sky. That was one thing about shifting, when you shifted your clothes didn’t shift with you, at least for him that was how it worked, so he always had his clothes in a bag with him. The feeling of flying through the sky was great, the day was so nice, and he was in a happy mood now.
He landed outside of the city and changed back into his human form, taking his clothes out, he got dressed and made sure that he looked presentable. Once he knew he was alright he walked into the city and started to look around for something to eat, he didn’t go to any nice places because he could not afford it. Also he was a bit smarter then that, it seemed like the pick pocket were al around there. Once he had found a nice pub to get something, he ate down his food and had a few beers. That was when he had heard someone scream about someone taking a bag. He knew that this was going to happen today, it happened almost every day there in the city. He got up and went outside, seeing someone that he knew from the shifters pride and one of the advisers he sighed. Seeing the path that the man was going to take he moved into another spot and just before the man got away he threw his arm out and close lined the man so that he hit the ground so hard it knocked him out. Eli then leaned down and picked up the bag and laughed a moment. "Lose something?" He asked holding it up for her now.

That thief was fast. The next thing Lin knew he was on the ground with a guy bending over to pick up her bag. He seemed to be laughing a bit. Besides having a grateful feeling for having him help return her bag, a slight feeling that he was laughing at her carelessness, but maybe she was just being paranoid. "Lose something?" He asked holding out her bag. The bag was made of red cloth and had flowers embroidered on it. Lin accepted the bag and slung it back over her shoulder where it belonged. "Thank you." She said smiling politely before checking to make sure everything was in place. Throughout her childhood, Lin was always taught by her parents to be polite and say please and thank you. Eventually saying please and thank you became second nature and she usually said it without a thought. This was especially useful since she was an advisor and the youngest.
Looking back at the stranger Lin thought he must be a shifter. She remembered seeing him around the shelter a few times before, but she never talked to him. From the infrequent sightings she assumed he was a rogue. "My name's Lin. You're a shifter right? I think I've seen you around the shelter before." She said. The favor was very generous even though she would have eventually caught up to the thief once he ran out of energy or got into an open space where she could shift. Her father hadn't taught her martial arts for nothing. However Lin did need to start running more in her human form if she was to become faster. Speaking of thieves, Lin looked down at the unconscious man. What to do about him, she couldn’t really tell what race he was. He was definitely not a shifter, but then what was he? The thief didn't carry the scent of a vampire either nor did he use any magic that a caster would use. "I'm pretty sure the thief is a dragon, so I think it'd be best if we moved away before he comes to otherwise I don't think he'd take being knocked unconscious lightly." Lin had wandered around the city long enough to know some of the habits of the other races. For instance, dragons tended to strike back when challenged. Being close-lined by a person counted and a shifter is not match for a dragon in strength.
"So what brings you to the city this day?" Lin asked casually. She might as well strike up a conversation. Who knows? It may end up becoming interesting. Getting to know someone could mean making a friend or just finding out more about a pride member. She wondered what the shifter's other form was. It could be a variety of animals. "If you don't mind me asking, what's your other form? Mine's is a horse." Lin asked watching the guy curiously. For some reason she felt that his was just different from the usual animals like birds and feline creatures.

Eli knew a lot of people, it just took time for the people to get to know him, then again it was hard to get to know someone that did not like to stick around one place for long, he was after all his own person. So this was of course something that he was used to dealing with, helping someone out even if they don’t know him all that well. He was sure that there was going to be something else from it as well, he was just glad that he could get her bag back for her. Smiling he just nodded his head some when she said thank you, he was used to it even if he was not so tight up on it. "No problem" He then knelt down and checked on the man that was laying there, it was kind of funny, how out he was, that was going to teach him, you did not just steal from people around there, if you did you were bound to get an arm across the throat and then down on the ground for all the trouble that you had gone through. Stupid man, he was going to be feeling that in the next hour or so.
He cocked his head to the side when she was talking about seeing him around the pride, yeah he did spend some time around there. It was like a second home to him anyways, so he was bound to be someplace that he liked most of all. "Its nice to meet you Lin, my name is Eli Roth, and yes i do spend some time around the house, its like a second home when i have no other place to be." He smiled off again, he checked the pulse of the man, making sure he had not killed him, no that would have been a bad thing for all of them. He could not afford to end up in jail again, that would look bad on a lot of things, and he was trying rather hard this time to come off as a good guy, and not the wild one his mother sometimes calls him. "Yeah i think so, he doesn’t smell like a vamp or wolf. Eh, he will wake up soon so i agree we should make our way, away from here." He said standing up and offering his arm, just being polite as normal.
He made sure that no one was going to be following them as they started to walk again, he just thought it would be very good to get out of there so no one caught them. He looked up into the sky when she asked him what he was doing there. "Oh shopping, and some other things, I need for my house, and some things for my parents since they don’t get out to the city very often, its the only place that some of the things they want come in, so i have to go and get it for them." He said honestly, he did hat sometimes, his mother was very found of some fabrics and the only place that they showed up was in the city. She then asked him what form he took, and hat she was a hose, well that was not to far from what he was, but yet still something different. "Im a Pegasus, one of the last handful that is left on the land. I know them all but we are far and few between." He said with a grin across his face, he was always proud of that fact, that he was one of the few left, made him feel like he was actually worth something.
