Her fur is a light tan with her ears having black tips and the tip of her tail. She is larger than the average cougar standing just a little over three feet and nine feet long. She is extremely strong and knows how to use her teeth. Her canines are bright and sharp along with a mouthful of other sharp tearing teeth.
general appearance; Isolade is a very mysterious woman, she has piercing eyes set in a rather round and soft featured face. Her long black hair is either up in braids or wrapped or let to flow freely. Like her cougar she is tall and her skin a light tan. She is calm and deceptively kind with her features but she is just as clever and sharp as her eyes. Her eyes are like the cougars, a part of the transformation that she keeps even in human form. These eyes hold secrets and are said to pierce into the soul. Isolade keeps herself well fit in both forms and is well muscled but in a way where it gives her curves and shape to her body. Though appearing weak she is not to underestimated, she can give men twice her size a run for their money.

overall personality;
Isolade is a very calm and understanding person however when it comes to people disobeying or challenging her she is ruthless. She is quick and harsh to punish and often as a consequence comes down hard on herself. She is unforgiving and gives her trust away only with careful and calculated reasoning. She is not one to forgive betrayal and she doesn’t trust easily Isoade comes off seeming like she will never back down and that she fears nothing and she would like to keep it that way. She doesn’t fear anything but the disunity of her pride. The pride that her ancestors built and that her parents guided through the beginning of the war keeping them neutral. She is terrified of losing control and the pride breaking and disunity ruling. She is understanding and willing to listen to both sides of a situation. She is calm in panic situations and often has the problem of getting overheated in council meeting and threatening them. She is bad in diplomatic situation and relies on intimidation when trying to get a point across. She will sometimes even acquire a half transformed state to add to the terror.
Isolade is very open but wary to travelers. She doesn’t trust anyone who is not a shifter or who has otherwise gained her trust. The other species have a far too rocky history for her taste and she does not want her pride tainted by these poisonous war thoughts. She is welcoming to all those who need shelter but she will not hesitate to kick them out if she feels that they are corrupting her people or trying to bring the war to her people. She does not keep the war a secret in fact she uses many flyers as means to keep herself and others on top of the war situation should the need arise that they defend themselves. Isolade likes her pride informed so that she can show them the horror of war and why they need to stay neutral.

overall history;
Isolade was born one of two twins. However her mother had health problems and soon after bearing Isolade and her stillborn sister she died. She was raised to be strong and proud by her father. Her father was a tough hard man who treated her more like a son than a daughter. He trained her and schooled her to succeed him. She had her first transformation at age five, are rarity but not unheard of, especially for the leaders. They pass down the titled through birth and the soul of the leader is passed on making the leader stronger and bigger than others of similar shifts. Isolade transformed into a cub and when she ran to her father he took her in his arms and paraded her down The Beach and the shifters around changed their forms to that of their human one and lowered their heads to their leader and his successor. Isolade form that point on had trained with her father gaining strength and control.
By the time Isolade matured she was the spitting image of her mother but had the strength and personality of her father. She learned about politics now and spent more time in books than out on the Beach. She tried to get out often and mingle with her fellow shifters to gain trust and familiarity. She marveled at the safe haven her ancestors had created and the world her mother and father had led their pride into. They created a peaceful world outside of the chaos and agony of the war. She was schooled and trained until she was as strong as she could be and even then she trained harder. When she reached her late teenage years she had a scandalous relationship with a young panther. It had been scandalous because there was rumor that she had lost her maidenhood. The panther had flaunted the idea, for a shifter mates for life and nothing more. Therefore had she really lost her maidenhood to the panther he would be her mate for life.
She punished him greatly for the rumor by changing into her cougar form and fighting him. In the end she blinded him for using her for his own personal gain. In the end she endured a grueling set of tests to ensure that she was indeed pure and a wicked lashing from her father. The panther was then an example of what happened when one lost trust from Isolade and betrayed her. Her father though he punished her then took her aside and told her what she had done was right. He told her that the earlier you show the pride you are not afraid of them the faster they will respect and listen to you. She indeed gained the respect and legitimacy the leader deserves. That was when the mark appeared on her forehead. There is a myth that the leaders are the reincarnations of the souls of the past leaders. The mark of the leader is some sort of forehead mark, hers is two lines curving up from her eyes around her forehead in a arched crown shape.
Her mother and father both had a mark, which was rare. Normally one leader has it and the other is more of an advisor. Isolade’s mother though a doe had an eternal rack that pointed into a small crown. Her father had a long stripe that went down his nose and parted into three prongs under his forelock. These marks are easy to distinguish from other marks in that they are unnatural for the animal and even in human form they emit a kind of aura that other shifter’s recognize. So the fact that the mark appeared on Isolade’s forehead was a celebrated event and her coronation occurred that very night. With her legitimacy restored and her respect established she took on the role of being co-leader with her father. At that point her father was growing in age and was focusing more on teaching her how to rule and take care of the pride.
As is customary with all leaders Isolade was sent into the world to gain more experience when she turned twenty. Her task was to spend five year examining and learning about the other races. She journeyed from the safety of the Beach and travelled using both forms carefully meeting shifters and other races along the way. First she journeyed to the Caster’s Cult and spent a wonderful half year there. It felt safe enough and she loved learning all about the spells and herbs. She was to take back information and use the experience to gain diplomatic knowledge. After a while the Cult sent her off to their allies the werewolves. Here Isolade found herself thrust into the war and learning about it firsthand. She kept herself transformed for her own safety after a few terrifying encounters. Once she was welcomed as a guest of the alpha she was free to roam in safety. The werewolves felt like kin for a while until she learned more about their transformation and curse. She learned the werewolf’s view on the war and how it started. She was enlightened and it took her a work to remain neutral. She gained wonderful speaking skills here when she was asked what she thought in hostile territory and she learned how to reflect her thoughts with emotion to get people to listen but she also learned how to say what she thought in the most neutral way. Such that someone asks, “Isolade leader-successor of the Shifters, what is your take on the war? Is it just?” She would answer, “Dear sir, no war is just no matter the circumstances facing either party. My Pride is open to all and all will be welcome in my Pride. But should a war be brought within my walls is shall be banished for there shall be no war where peace has already won.”
Later she went to the dragons. That was a terrifying but exciting opportunity. She found herself awed several times over by them. Again she learned from them and gained another side of the story. The vampires had fed on a werewolf that was the story from both sides but in the werewolf pack the vampires had struck first driven by lust for their blood. On the coven’s side the story was the same only the werewolf had struck first and the vampire struck in self defense. It was these inconsistencies that lead her to start viewing the war through an even more neutral lens. She grew in wisdom with the long memory of the dragons and she learned calm patience from them. Then again she moved to their allies the Coven. Again she found herself in danger. She had to get the king’s protection in order to move freely. Once it was granted the king had used several persuasive tactics to try to get her to chose his side so that he might gain the force of the Pride behind him. Sickened by the thought of her people dying for something that was little more than a misunderstanding (in her mind at least) she left the coven with haste and finally ended up in Elya where the races mixed. Even here there was tension where there was supposed to be peace.
It wasn’t too long that she started to feel an uneasy pull to go home. But it had only been four years she couldn’t fail. Finally a cheetah ran as fast as he could manage and collapsed at her feet begging her to answer the call and return home. He told her, “Empress Isolade the courageous, please I beg you return, you’re father has little time left. So she returned with him keeping pace and returning in little over a day. She fell at her father’s bedside and took his hand. Something had come up nasty and fast. He could hardly speak and every breath pained him. Cancer, one of the doctors declared and Isolade wondered if her connections to the Cult would help. Her father stopped her saying, “Child, do not seek help outside this Pride. You have learned in your journeys all about the past and the world. Understand that no help goes unpaid and should you seek favor from them they will demand favor from you.” His last words of wisdom struck her like a tidal wave. That was really the way of the world. To be allied meant war, to protect her Pride she must swallow her own and took the last bit of understanding of neutrality. As a last ritual her father touched her forehead and transferred the leadership fully to her shoulders then he passed on as though into a dream. Isolade has led the Pride for three years now, into and out of many sticky situations always remembering and keeping neutral to the war and looking upon both sides.

((From another site)) Elijah... Elijah, read me a story. The voice haunted him as his eyes snapped open. He swore softly as he remembered the day. If he could have gone in her place he would have. She had only been six. He sat up and looked at clock yawning widely. It didn't take him long to pull on sweat pants and a random t-shirt. Eli shook his head trying to rid himself of the ghost. Sweet Caroline had been the only one to ever call him Elijah. It used to annoy him now he would give anything to hear her call his name like she used to. "Once, there was a little princess," he said aloud, glad there was no one else around to institutionalize him for talking to shadows. "She was the sweetest and prettiest in the land and everyone loved her." He continued as he dropped onto his rump and pulled on his shoes. "But there was a jealous witch who wanted the girl's beauty. One day she took the girl away. She was terrified but you see this pretty little girl had a knight." He smiled with faint sadness, it would have been that moment in the story Caroline would have exclaimed, 'Elijah! Be my knight Elijah!' His heart throbbed but he continued. "He wouldn't let anyone hurt his princess. He went to the witch and demanded he let her go. The witch refused but that night he stole her away and the whole kingdom celebrated her return." He finished with a triumphant smile.
"As if." He said bitterly his pleasant mood falling to oblivion. He never liked it and never thought he would be able to but he had promised. "Happy Birthday Caroline." He uttered. Eli sighed and shook his head. He needed to get out of the room. He stole one last glance at the picture standing by his bedside. Only one thing could clear his mind completely and that was rather illegal and frowned upon, so he settled for the next best thing. The track. He could drill himself and keep himself sharp. Eli wasn't remarkable by any means. He was tall and lithe, flexible and strong. His brown hair was cropped short to keep if from being a hindrance and his green eyes were sharp giving nothing away but taking in everything. Altogether Eli looked like anyone else on the street. A necessity if he was to disappear into the crowd at will.
He could and did become invisible, eavesdropping was something of a hobby and the best way to eavesdrop was to be invisible. Eli was no track star but the track served its purpose. For instance the white lines were about the width of a privacy fence. His shoes were the only thing he really cared about. They were sturdy but flexible easy to maneuver and balance. It was like just having an extra layer of protection. He would have rather gone barefoot but after a few nights of robberies on bare feet they had bled and run the risk of someone finding him. His shoes were more like cloth coverings instead of the traditional thick stiff soled shoes. Eli moved without a sound out into the cool damp morning. The sun wasn't even peering over the horizon yet, instead it hid igniting the sky with reds and oranges. He didn't mind the early hours, in fact before he came here he would have already been up for hours having slept the afternoon before. Stealing had become part of what he was so much so that it was hard for him to separate his life from it. He moved carefully and purposefully in such silence he sometimes scared people if they didn't see him coming. He used the silence and invisibility as a shield as much as he did a weapon. No one at the school knew anything about his previous life and he wanted it to stay that way so number one solution: Stay under the radar and stay invisible.
Eli sighed and shook himself out before starting at a casual trot around the track. He carefully sidestepped the line imagining creaking floorboards. His feet throbbed thinking about the aches of his early days in training. It had been so hard to constantly balance on his toes. Soon the muscle built but at a price. His tendons shortened in his feet and for a while he couldn't even walk normally much less tip his foot up to tap it. Once he had been around a few times Eli started to follow the line. Balancing but moving rapidly striving for speed without touching anything but white. The sun was just starting to rise, no one in their right mind would be out at this unholy hour. He himself pushed out of his bed early by nightmares. Watching the white line carefully Eli didn't even notice someone else was around until he nearly bowled him over. The shadow of the person crossed his path causing his head to come up. "Jesus!" He exclaimed twisting to the side to dodge them.
